Kendrapara, Apr 8: At least 15 persons sustained injuries following a clash between two groups at Harijan Sahi of Tulasipur village under Marshaghai police limits in Kendrapara district.
According to reports, the dispute took place over placement of bamboo during the ‘Ashta Prahari Naam Yajna’. The altercation between two groups turned into a battlefield, leaving 15 people injured, with five in critical condition.
The conflict reportedly began when a road was cleared for bamboo placement as part of the ritual, leading to a heated disagreement between the groups. The situation spiraled out of control as the victims attacked each other with sticks and iron rods.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued the critically injured victims to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital. Later, they were shifted to hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
While a case has been registered against the accused persons, police team have been deployed in Tulasipur village to maintain law and order and to prevent further escalation.
