Jajpur, Jun 17: The diarrhoea outbreak in Jajpur district has escalated, prompting food safety authorities and a central investigation team to conduct extensive raids across multiple locations to curb potential contamination sources.
During the operation, officials inspected packaged water processing plants and cold storage facilities, where hygiene violations were suspected. As part of the crackdown, the Food Safety Department sealed five packaged water processing units and 11 hotels, citing concerns over substandard sanitation and possible contamination risks.
This decisive action comes in response to a growing number of diarrhoea cases in Jajpur, where residents have been experiencing severe symptoms linked to unsafe food and drinking water. Officials collected samples for laboratory testing to determine the presence of harmful bacteria or toxins.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution when consuming packaged beverages and food from unverified sources. Medical teams have also been deployed to affected areas to provide immediate relief to those suffering from the outbreak.
The investigation is ongoing, and further enforcement measures may be taken in the coming days to safeguard public health and prevent the outbreak from spreading further.
