Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: In a landmark move to enhance urban service delivery, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched the “Sahar Sathi” 1929 toll-free helpline, a 24x7 call centre aimed at resolving civic issues across the state.
Citizens can now dial 1929 to report problems ranging from drainage issues and potholes to power and water supply disruptions. Once a complaint is registered, the system tracks its resolution and sends a confirmation message to the complainant. Only after the citizen replies with “OK” will the complaint be officially closed. If unresolved, the system escalates the issue to the concerned officer for accountability.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this helpline will eliminate the need for repeated visits to municipal or NAC offices. “From today, your complaints, questions, or suggestions will reach ‘Sahar Sathi’ directly with just one phone call. Our goal is to make daily life smoother, cleaner, and more dignified for every citizen,” he tweeted.

This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to
citizen-centric governance, digital accessibility, and infrastructure
modernization. With ‘Sahar Sathi’, Odisha is setting a new benchmark in responsive
urban administration.
