New Delhi, Jan 25: The Centre on Monday announced the Padma Awards for 2026, with 131 individuals selected for the country’s civilian honours. The list includes five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri awardees, recognising contributions across various fields.
From Odisha, four personalities have been selected for the Padma Shri award.
In the field of Literature and Education, Charan Hembrom and Mahendra Kumar Mishra will be honoured with the Padma Shri. In the field of Arts, Sarat Kumar Patra and Simanchal Patro have been selected for the award.
Charan Hembrom is a well-known Santhali writer. Simanchal Patro is associated with Sakhi Nata Theatre as a performing artist.
Padma Vibhushan
Veteran actor Dharmendra Singh Deol will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously in the field of Arts. Other recipients include KT Thomas (Public Affairs, Kerala), N Rajam (Arts, Uttar Pradesh), P Narayanan (Literature and Education, Kerala), and VS Achuthanandan (Public Affairs, Kerala), all of whom will be honoured posthumously.
