Anugola, Oct 7: Former Union Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan has called for turning the campaign on nutrition, cleanliness, and a drug‑free society into a mass movement, stressing the collective responsibility of citizens in shaping a healthier future.

Speaking at the ‘Seva Sambad’ and ‘Angan Ka Utsav’ programme in Turanga, Barapali block of Anugola district, Pradhan honoured Anganwadi and ASHA workers for their dedicated service. He also interacted with children and beneficiaries at the local Anganwadi centre.

Highlighting their crucial role, he said: “In the areas of primary child care, mental and physical development, the role of Anganwadi and ASHA workers is extremely important. Proper management of Anganwadi centres, nutrition for pregnant mothers and children, and strengthening social responsibility is our moral duty.”

Underlining that the future of Odisha and India rests on the next generation, the Sambalpur MP said: “Our children are the real foundation of a developed Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.”

“Alongside government efforts, every citizen must take responsibility to ensure proper nutrition, early care, and elimination of malnutrition and anaemia,” he added.

He further added that only through “collective cooperation, sincerity, and active participation can the holistic development of every child be achieved.”

The former Union Minister also urged society to embrace cleanliness, avoid single‑use plastics, and work towards a drug‑free environment. “Providing proper nutrition, maintaining hygiene, rejecting single‑use plastic, and creating a drug‑free society must become a mass movement,” appealed Pradhan.

Concluding his address, Dharmendra Pradhan wished for a bright, healthy, and prosperous future for all children, reiterating that their well‑being is central to building a strong nation.
