Sambalpur, Sep 5: Former Union Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan began his four-day visit to western Odisha on Saturday, with a ceremonial welcome by BJP workers at Khetrarajpur railway station. Hundreds of party members greeted him with flowers and traditional attire, marking the start of a packed schedule across Sambalpur, and Bargarh.

Pradhan is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a Training and Skill Development Centre at Odisha State Open University here at around 11 AM. In the evening, he will attend the Teachers’ Day programme at Gangadhar Meher University auditorium, where educators will be felicitated for their contributions.

On Sunday, the Sambalpur MP will travel to Barpali in Bargarh district to visit Asurgarh, an archaeological site dating back 2,000 years to the post-Mauryan era. He is also scheduled to review ongoing development projects at Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary, highlighting the government’s focus on conservation and eco-tourism.

Pradhan’s itinerary includes participation in two major convocation ceremonies on September 7 — at Sambalpur University in Jyoti Vihar and later at Gangadhar Meher University. On September 8, he will chair the Sambalpur District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the Zilla Parishad auditorium, followed by the Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) meeting in the afternoon.
