Puri, June 27: Pahandi of Lord Balabhadra began after Chakraraj Sudarshan and Devi Subhadra were escorted to the chariot, Darpadalan, amid Ghant beating and Bada Baada Saa'nta call by devotees.

Marvellously crafted Tahiya swings as the idol moves to the sides during the Pahandi undertaken by Daitapari servitors. Odissi dances, and unique art performances marked the celebration on the Bada Danda (Grand Road).

On the Gundicha Yatra day i.e. the first day of the nine-day Rath Yatra, the idols come in Dhadi Pahandi (Line Escort). This means, Sudarshan, Devi Subhadra, Lord Balabhadra and Lord Jagannath disembark the Ratna Simhasan one after another and move in Pahandi to their Raths stationed at the Grand Road.

An atmosphere of devotion prevails in the entire pilgrim city, Puri.

According to tradition, Sudarshan is seated on the Darpadalan Rath first and stands as protection to sister Devi Subhadra.

Sudarsan and Devi Subhadra sit on the Darpadalan Rath. Lord Balabhadra is seated on His Taladwaja chariot.

According to the latest information, Lord Jagannath, fondly Kalia Saanta, reached Singha Dwar and will soon boart His Rath, Nandighosh. , fondly called Kalia Saa'nta, will be brought in the ceremonial escort from the Santom Santorum of Shreemandir.

As per the schedule, Rath pulling will begin at 4 pm after attracting rituals of Chherapahmra is conducted on all chariots by Gajapati Dibya Singha Deb or his representative.
