Puri, June 23: Thousands of devotees on Sunday thronged the Alarnath temple at Brahmagiri, around 23 km away from Puri, to have darshan of deity Alarnath Deb as the darshan of the Lord Jagannath and his siblings at the Srmandir in Puri closed for a fortnight until Rath Yatra.
As per belief, Lord Jagannath, Lod Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at Srimandir fall sick after Snan Purnima following which they take rest inside the Anasar Ghar (sick room) for 13 days instead of the usual 15 days until Rath Yatra. During this period, Lord Jagannath manifests himself in the form of Alarnath Deb.
