Puri, Aug 16: Following the divine celebration of Lord Krishna’s birth, the sacred ritual of Nandotsav will be observed today at the Shree Jagannath Temple.
Senior servitors from the Mahajana and Dakshina groups will ceremoniously escort the deities Ramakrishna and Madanmohan from their respective shrines to the Jagamohan in a traditional Doli (palanquin) after the evening aarti.
After which, special ceremonies such as Shasthi Puja and Markandi Puja will be performed. These rituals are deeply symbolic, invoking blessings for prosperity and protection.
Following the Mangalarpana and Bandapana rituals, Goddess Durga will be ceremonially brought from the Bhandaraghara by the Patimahapatra. She will be presented before Ramakrishna and Madanmohan, who are seated in the Doli, and then placed on the sacred Khat (platform), symbolising divine reunion.
The Bhitarachha Mahapatra, assuming the role of Nandaraja (Krishna’s foster father), will take the journey to Srinahara and return to take his seat atop the Snanamandapa.
