Koraput, Jul 20: In a tragic road accident on National Highway 26 near Semiliguda in Koraput district, four people lost their lives while three others sustained serious injuries following a collision between a Tata Safari and a Maruti car on Sunday.
According to initial reports, the Maruti car was carrying four individuals — all residents of Sunabeda region — who died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. The victims included one person from the EAF quarters in Sunabeda, one from the DP camp, and two from the Ganjam Colony area. Their identities are yet to be officially confirmed by local authorities.
The Tata Safari involved in the accident was reportedly en route to Damanjodi from Jeypore, carrying a family of three. All three passengers suffered injuries and were immediately shifted to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput. Medical teams have confirmed their condition to be stable, although further tests and observation are underway.

The collision took place in the early hours on a relatively busy stretch of NH-26, raising fresh concerns about speeding and road safety in the region.
