Mayurbhanj, June 4: Three days after the brutal attack on an additional tehsildar Bhimakant Majhi by mafia members, police on Wednesday arrested three suspects linked to the incident.
The arrested persons have been identified as Akash Nayak, Manas Puhan, and Rajat Mohanty.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, took place when Majhi confronted a group involved in illegal sand mining in Kaptipada area. Majhi said the perpetrators initially verbally abused him at his office before assaulting. The assailants also damaged his official vehicle.
According to reports, the accused persons were apprehended from the Kaptipada market. However, efforts are underway to nab more 20 suspects, who remain at large.

As Majhi approached the police station, a group of 10 to 20 mafia members followed him on motorcycles and chased him to the premises. The moment his car came to a halt, the assailants launched their attack—some ran toward the vehicle, hitting it with sticks, while others threw bricks, smashing the windshield.
The coordinated assault intensified, with the mafia members surrounding Majhi’s car. Even after he stepped out, one of the attackers could be seen grabbing his arm and pulling him.
