Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: In a bid to maintain discipline at Puri Shreemandir, devotees will walk in queue to have darshan of the holy trinity -- Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra -- starting January 20.
The statement came from Prithviraj Harichandan, Minister of Law, Works & Excise. "Preparations are underway. The decision to have darshan in queue has been taken to maintain discipline inside the temple," said Harichandan.
This will reportedly be a trial run as men and women will have darshan in different queues.
Puri Ratna Bhandar Repair Works
Speaking on the repair works of Shreemandir Ratna Bhandar, the Odisha Law Minister said that it will be completed by March. "After the completion of the repair works, the counting of jewellery and valuables," he asserted.
Notably, the repair works had initially commenced December 17 following the GPR-GPS survey report and renovation plans. However, the works had to be suspended December 25 owing to Christmas.
The repair works resumed January 3 and again it was suspended from January 12 to 15. The suspension decision came due to Pausha Purnima (January 13) and Makar Sankranti the next day.
Usually, a large number of devotees are expected to throng Shreemandir for significant rituals. Keeping in view of the rush, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) decided for a temporary suspension of repair works.
The repair works was supposed to resume January 16, but Harichandan said that it will resume a day after (January 17). "The repair works of Ratna Bhandar will resume January 17. We are expecting the repair works will be completed by March," informed the Works Minister.
BSKY Corruption Investigation
Shedding light on the investigation of BSKY corruption, the Law Minister said that the state government will investigate the matter.
"Earlier, people were getting rejected at various places despite having BSKY (Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana) health card," Harichandan pointed out.
"People were being exploited in many places. Hospitals used to make bills adding unnecessary expenses and service charges to it," he added.
The Law Minister took an aim at BJD government saying various persons from the previous government were involved in this corruption and wrongdoings. "The state government will soon initiate an investigation in this regard," Harichandan signed off.
