Darshan Halted As Puri Jagannath Temple Observes Sacred 'Maha Snana' Ritual

Puri, Apr 25: ‘Maha Snana’ ritual was performed at Shree Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri on Friday after an unexpected incident disrupted regular darshan of the Holy Trinity.

According to reports, after the completion of the morning rituals, the darshan of Lord Jagannath commenced. During the time, a devotee vomited inside the temple. Following this, the darshan was halted and the temple was closed.

Later, servitors conducted the 'Maha Snana' niti.

The temple authorities promptly initiated cleansing rituals, followed by the deity's ceremonial bath.

Maha Snan is a deeply significant purification ritual performed when the sanctity of the temple is considered compromised. During this rite, the idols of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Maa Subhadra are ritually cleansed to restore spiritual purity.

Notably, during these proceedings, public darshan remains suspended.

This act is deeply rooted in the temple's heritage, highlighting the unwavering dedication to maintaining its sanctity.
