Aska, Jun 24: Taking note of the alleged assault against two persons of the Dalit community, a high-level administrative team reached the village under Dharakote block in Ganjam's Aska.
The team reached Kharigumma village to assess the situation and gather details from the affected families.
The delegation included the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Bhanjanagar, Tehasildar and Block Development Officer (BDO) of Dharakote.
The officials personally visited the homes of the victims and collected firsthand information from family members.
The administration has assured the affected Dalit families of social protection and necessary support.
Additionally, financial aid was also announced to assist with the victims' medical treatment.
Local authorities have emphasised that an investigation is underway and that justice will be ensured in accordance with the law.
The incident has sparked concern and discussions about ensuring the safety and dignity of marginalised communities.
According to initial reports, the victims were partially tonsured, tied with ropes, paraded through the village on their knees for around two kilometers, and even forced to drink drain water.
So far, police have detained nine persons in connection with the incident.
