Bhubaneswar, Jun 23: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert as a new cyclonic circulation is expected to form, potentially triggering intense rainfall across several districts of Odisha starting June 25.

The system is likely to bring very heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning over the next five days.

Authorities have issued warnings for multiple districts, urging residents to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 23.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 24.06.2025)

Yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput on June 23 and June 24.

Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy rain very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore on June 24 and June 25.

Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam on June 25 and June 26.
