Cuttack, Aug 21:  In a tragic road accident on NH-16 near Gopalpur in Cuttack, a speeding truck ran over a motorcycle, killing two people — a man and a woman — on the spot on Thursday evening.

The victims were reportedly traveling from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar when the incident occurred. The identities of the deceased were not confirmed instantly.

Eyewitnesses stated that the truck lost control and rammed into the bike, leaving no time for the riders to react. Locals immediately alerted the Police, and Sadar Police reached the scene promptly.

The truck involved in the accident has been seized, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause and identify the victims, police said.

The tragic incident has sparked concern over reckless driving and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations on busy highways.
