Cuttack: Special POCSO Court Pronounces 3 Years' Rigorous Imprisonment To Rapist Of Minor

Cuttack, Mar 14: In what can be termed as an expeditious conviction, the Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court awarded a three-year rigorous imprisonment to a man for raping a 16-year-old girl a few months back here today.
Besides imprisonment, the accused Sania Singh was subjected to a fine of Rs 10,000 failing which his imprisonment will be extended for another six months.
The POCSO court also directed that the victim be given a compensation of Rs 1 lakh.
The case was registered on October 17, 2023 at the Jagatpur police station.

The family members of the victim lodged a complaint against the accused Sania following which he was arrested and court forwarded.
On the basis of seven eye-witnesses and 14 documents, the special POCSO court convicted him and then pronounced the judgement.
