Cuttack, Jul 15: President Droupadi Murmu, during her visit to Cuttack, laid the foundation stone for a major redevelopment initiative at Ravenshaw Girls’ High School, a historic institution known for its contribution to women’s education in Odisha.

The ₹87 crore project is part of the STAR (State Transformation in Action for Results) initiative aimed at modernizing educational infrastructure across the state.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Governor Haribabu Kambhampati, and School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.

Speaking at the event, President Murmu emphasized the importance of empowering girls through quality education and praised the school’s legacy in shaping generations of women leaders. She expressed hope that the redevelopment would provide a more conducive learning environment and inspire greater academic excellence.

The STAR project will include upgraded classrooms, smart learning facilities, improved sanitation, and enhanced safety measures. The initiative is expected to transform Ravenshaw Girls’ High School into a model institution for girls’ education in the region.

Chief Minister Majhi and Union Minister Pradhan echoed the President’s sentiments, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting gender equity in education.

The redevelopment of Ravenshaw Girls’ High School is seen as a landmark step in Odisha’s broader mission to uplift women’s education and create inclusive learning spaces.
