Cuttack, July 14: A female elephant, believed to be suffering from illness and exhaustion, was discovered lying on the ground in an open field near Ananta Prasad village under Badamba block of Narasinghpur.

The matter came to light this morning after some locals spotted the pachyderm in the field and alerted the forest officials about the same.

Upon receiving the alert, Forest Department personnel along with a team of veterinarians rushed to the spot and begun on-site treatment for the elephant.

The area has been cordoned off to ensure the elephant remains undisturbed during recovery.

Wildlife experts are monitoring the elephant’s condition and planning further medical intervention if needed.

This incident highlights the growing challenges of human-elephant conflict and habitat stress, especially during the monsoon season when elephants often stray into human settlements in search of food and shelter.
