The team expressed concern over the district administration’s decision to restrict the 2025 Bali Jatra to the Lower Ground near Gadagadia Ghat, citing logistical and safety reasons.

✨They argued that the exclusion of the Upper Ground from this year’s festivities would dampen the spirit of the historic fair, which commemorates Odisha’s maritime legacy and draws lakhs of visitors annually.
In addition to the Bali Jatra appeal, the delegation also requested an extension of the timing for the city’s iconic Durga immersion procession. Traditionally held on the night of October 3, the BJP team proposed that the immersion be allowed until 6 am on October 4 to accommodate the large number of devotees and ensure a smooth and respectful conclusion to the festivities.
The BJP leaders stressed that both Bali Jatra and Durga Puja
are deeply embedded in the cultural fabric of Cuttack and deserve full administrative
support. They urged the Chief Minister to consider public sentiment and take
swift action to preserve the city’s heritage and festive spirit.
