Cuttack, Apr 27: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old boy died by drowning in the Kathajodi River today.


The deceased was identified as Suryakant Majhi, a resident of the Khannagar area in the Millennium City.


According to the information, Suryakant and two friends took a bath in the nearby Kathajodi River at around 11.30 am. During the bath, Suryamant went missing. Alerted by two friends, locals and fire personnel rushed to the spot and initiated a search operation. After a while, they rescued Suryakant in an unconscious state and took him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital. As luck would have it, he was declared dead there.

A pall of gloom descended on the area following the heartwrenching mishap.


It may be noted here that two teenagers had died by drowning in the Mahanadi River, flowing on the other end of the city, three days ago.
