Education / CTTC Bhubaneswar Trains 8,083 Engineering Students in Summer Internship

Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: In a significant boost to industry‑oriented education, the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, under the Ministry of MSME, has successfully concluded its four‑week Summer Internship Training Programme 2026, officials said on Friday.

Conducted during May and June, the initiative provided hands‑on, industry‑graded training to 8,083 engineering students from 22 States and Union Territories, along with 26 international students from Sudan and Yemen.

The programme catered to students from first year to final year, reaffirming CTTC’s role as a premier institution bridging classroom learning with industrial practice. Participants hailed from IITs, NITs, deemed universities, engineering colleges, and polytechnics, underscoring the centre’s national footprint.

A Spectrum of Opportunity

Training spanned 39 engineering and emerging technology domains, covering Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, and Computer Science disciplines. Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI‑ML), Cloud Computing, IoT, and Additive Manufacturing were given special focus.

Mechanical engineering saw the highest participation with 3,193 students, followed by Electronics (2,209), IT & Software (1,948), Civil (388), and other domains (345). Popular modules included Artificial Intelligence (1,748 students), PLC Programming (1,000), AutoCAD (991), Python Programming (413), and Data Analytics (392).

CTTC’s Legacy

Established to serve the tooling and training needs of MSMEs, CTTC Bhubaneswar has consistently contributed to India’s industrial and scientific missions. The centre manufactured and supplied 54,000 precision components for ISRO’s Chandrayaan‑3 mission and critical parts for the Aditya‑L1 solar mission. It has also supported aerospace and defence sectors by producing components for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme.

Officials noted that the internship reflects CTTC’s commitment to nurturing employability and technical competence among India’s youth, while simultaneously strengthening indigenous manufacturing capabilities.
