Guwahati, Feb 19: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Inspector General Amitendra Nath Sinha, currently posted in Odisha, was formally honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service during a grand CRPF parade in Guwahati. The award, announced on Republic Day, was conferred in recognition of his long-standing exemplary service, leadership, and contribution to national security.

The President’s Medal is among the highest honours bestowed on officers of India’s police and paramilitary forces, acknowledging exceptional dedication and professional excellence. Originally from Bihar’s Siwan district, Sinha hails from Bangra village, known as a “freedom fighters’ village.” He is a descendant of the late freedom fighter Ram Lakhan Singh. His father, Dr. Yatindra Nath Sinha, is a noted homeopathic physician and former national vice-president of the Homeopathic Medical Association of India, while his mother, Bachi Devi, is a retired teacher.

Sinha’s roots and upbringing reflect a legacy of service and commitment, which he has carried forward in his professional life. His recognition with the President’s Medal not only honours his personal achievements but also highlights the contribution of officers from Odisha cadre to the nation’s security apparatus.
