Cuttack, Sept 3: The Vigilance Tuesday arrested Dharanidhar Nayak, Deputy Director of Mines, Talcher, Angul, for possessing assets disproportionate to his income. 

During searches conducted on his houses at eight different places yesterday, the Vigilane detected two multi-storeyed buildings, one 3-BHK flat worth approx Rs.1.30 crore & 1 duplex of area 1800 sqft at Bhubaneswar, two market complexes with 19 shops, 11 Plots, deposits of Rs 53.53 lakhs, household articles worth Rs 54.70 lakhs, cash over Rs.9.85 lakhs from his and his relative's possession. The DDM could not satisfactorily explain the sources of the properties.

"As he failed to explain the sources of properties, he (Dharanidhar Nayak, DDM, Talcher) has been placed under arrest. He will be forwarded to court today," said an official release. 

A case (Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No. 25 /2024) has been registered against the DDM, added the release.
