Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: At a time when people are unsure about using firecrackers during Deepavali celebrations, many cracker shops have been opened in isolated places in the capital city here with permission from the Commissionerate police, deepening the denizen's ambiguity. 

Notably, the Supreme Court, in a recent direction, said its earlier order of ban on the use of pollution-creating and high-decibel firecrackers is applicable to the entire country. It has allowed the bursting of green crackers with defined norms. 

Green crackers neither cause pollution nor cause high decibel sounds. It also doesn't create smoke and blaze. 

Bipin Kumar Patra, a businessman, said high-decibel sound-making crackers like Gadama and Tala Photaka have been banned. The Commissionerate police have permitted to opening of cracker shops outside crowded places. 

"We have opened crack shops as per the guidlines of the Supreme Court. The Commissionerate police have given us permission to sell green crackers after the production of required documents," said Yudhisthir Routray. 

"People should follow Supreme Court instructions and refrain from bursting high sound-making and pollution-causing crackers," said an intellectual.
