Jajpur, Feb 6: In a shocking incident, two persons were killed and four others sustained critical injuries in a firecracker explosion in a village in the Jajpur district this morning.

According to the information, the mishap occurred in the Jalpur Basudebpur area under the Jajpur police station limits.

The workers were making crackers when explosives caught fire, the source of which is yet to be ascertained.

On being informed, fire brigades rushed in and rescued the workers. Two of them were reportedly burnt to death, and four others were found severely injured.

The injured persons are now undergoing treatment at the Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital.

Police have sent the bodies for postmortem and started an investigation into the incident.
