Angul, Mar 9: Two persons, husband and wife, travelling in their motorcycle were mowed down by a speeding truck near Kandal petrol pump on National Highway 53 in Angul's Talcher town.

The deceased have been identified as Madan Mohan Sahu, a teacher at Samal Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, and his wife Chaturi Sahu.

According to reports, the couple was on their way to Samal after finishing their work from Talcher town when a speeding truck mowed them near a petrol pump. Following the incident, the husband-wife duo died on the spot.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.

Reportedly, the truck has been seized from Kanihan area and the accused driver was taken into custody.
