Countdown Begins: BJP Odisha to Elect New State President, Filing of Nominations Today

Bhubaneswar, Jul 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha gears up on Monday for the formal nomination process to elect its next state president.

 

Under the supervision of election officer Pratap Sarangi and national observer Sanjay Jaiswal, the election proceedings will take place at the party’s state headquarters.

 

According to BJP's notification, the window for filing nominations is open from 11 am to 2 pm. Scrutiny of objections and verification will follow from 2 pm to 3 pm. If multiple candidates submit nominations, the final list and election symbols will be published by 4 pm.

 

Voting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, from 9 am to 11 am, should more than one candidate contest. The announcement of the new state BJP president will be made at 11:30 am the same day.

The election committee will consist of 273 voters from 37 organizational districts, including district presidents and state council members. Notably, one Rajya Sabha MP, two Lok Sabha MPs, and five BJP MLAs from Odisha will also participate in the voting process.

 

This internal election is expected to be a significant step in the party’s strategic planning. Party leaders believe the process will reflect both organizational strength and grassroots representation.
