Berhampur, Mar 15: A contractor was reportedly stabbed to death at Chanakya Nagar under the Lanjipalli area in Behrampur city during Holi celebrations today.

The deceased Contractor was identified as T Ramachandra. The police have arrested the accused, Papun.

According to the information, after celebrating Holi, T Ramchandra and another person were sitting in his house when Papun rushed in and argued with him. After some time, Papun stabbed Ramachandra with a knife.

Family members took him to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital soon. However, doctors declared him dead there.

The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be known. Police suspect a past rivalry behind the murder.

According to some locals, Papun had sought money from Ramachandra to buy liquor. But Ramachandra refused to give him money. Angry at this, Papun went to his house and stabbed him.

Police have sent the body for postmortem and started further investigation.
