Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: Congress workers, police personnel and media persons were injured in a bee attack during a protest outside the residence of senior IAS officer Bishnupada Sethi in Bhubaneswar on Monday.

The incident occurred when Odisha Chhatra Congress and Yuva Congress workers staged a protest demanding arrest of Sethi in connection with the Rs 10 lakh bribery case.

According to sources, the Congress workers, journalists and cops were suddenly swarmed by bees when the protest was at its peak.

Some protesters managed to seek shelter, while many of them were seen lying down to save themselves from the bee attack.

On the other hand, police personnel had to duck and flee from the spot in fear. However, some journalists were seen reporting the event by ducking on the ground.

Notably, senior IAS officer Sethi was summoned by the CBI for investigation in a bribery case involving Rs 10 lakh transaction in the State Capital recently. 

Sethi is posted as the Principal Secretary to the State government’s Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, ST & SC Development, Minorities, and Backward Classes Welfare Department.
