Bhubaneswar, Mar 11: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on Tuesday suspended Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati for indiscipline in the House.

Earlier, Government Chief Whip Saroj Pradhan recommended that the Speaker suspend Bahinipati for his unacceptable attitude in the House. BJP MLAs also supported the recommendation made by the Chief Whip.

"What happened in the morning was not decent. The behavior and utterances of the BJD and Congress MLAs are condemnable," Saroj alleged while recommending the suspension of Bahinipati.

Considering Bahinipati's attitude and members' concerns, Speaker Padhy suspended Bahinpati for seven days. Notably, Bahinipati, an MLA of the Congress party from Koraput's Jeypore constituency, climbed up the Speaker's podium as a mark of his protest in the House today.
