Nayagarh, May 10: Defence Minister and BJP Heavyweight Rajnath Singh Friday exuded confidence that his party will form a government in Odisha for the first time.

"Congress ruled Odisha for 50 years. The BJD has been ruling the Stae for the last 25 years. But Odisha is yet to see development. People have decided to change the government and bring in a BJP government," said Singh.

He said Odisha will start seeing development soon after the formation of the BJP government.

"Whatever is promised in the BJP election manifesto will be implemented in the letter and spirit. BJP put its promises into action," he claimed.

The BJP leader stated this while addressing a Bijay Sankalpa Samabesh at Panchudola ground at Ranapur today. Tens of thousands of people gathered at the venue to listen to Singh.

"The meeting is being held on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Farms start sowing seeds on this day. The huge gathering here indicates that the people have decided to change the government and opted to give a chance to the BJP for a double-engine Sarkar," said Singh.

"The Congress killed democracy by enforcing Emergency. But it is terming the unopposed win of a BJP candidate in Gujarat as 'killing of democracy," criticized Singh.

Singh said India has developed a lot during the last 10 years of the Modi government.

"The world was seeing India as a poor country. But after 10 years of Modi rule, the world is listening to what India is saying," boasted Singh.

On the occasion, Singh urged people to vote in large numbers for BJP's Puri Lok Sabha candidate Sambit Patra and Ranpur MLA candidate Surama Padhi.
