"We have been forced to resort to a shutdown to express our concern over weak Mandi system, cut of 5 to 8 kg of per quintal of paddy, sack scam and millers' shrewd activities in the district," said activists.

They said farmers of Deogarh have suffered a lot due to the negligence of the district administration and the State government. They demanded the Mandi system be streamlined and all paddy be procured from farmers at right prices.
