Colder Nights Ahead for Odisha as IMD Forecasts Temperature Drop from Dec 5
Odisha Weather Update: Fog Alert Issued, Night Temp to Drop by 3°C

Key Points

  • IMD predicts a fall of 2–3°C in Odisha’s night temperatures from December 5.
  • Dry weather is expected statewide for the next seven days, with no rainfall warning.
  • Yellow Warning issued for dense fog in seven districts on December 3 and 4 nights.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: Odisha is set to witness a gradual change in weather conditions over the next few days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhubaneswar, predicting a steady fall in night temperatures from December 5.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the influence of easterly winds has kept the coastal belt partly cloudy, but a clearer and cooler trend is expected as the week progresses.

As per the evening weather bulletin issued at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, a well-marked low-pressure area over North Tamil Nadu persisted on December 3, along with a cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

The system is likely to move westwards slowly and weaken into a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours. However, IMD has not issued any rainfall warning for Odisha in connection with this system.

For the next seven days, the department has forecast dry weather across all districts of Odisha. The only prominent advisory is a Yellow Warning for dense fog, which is very likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, Jharsuguda, Balangir, and Subarnapur districts on both December 3 night and December 4 night.

IMD further stated that minimum temperature is very likely to fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next two days, with no major change thereafter. This aligns with the expected winter cooling trend from December 5 onwards.

In Bhubaneswar, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature around 30 degrees Celsius and minimum around 15 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours.
