Balasore, Nov 13: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday joined thousands of citizens, students, and public representatives in a massive ‘Ekta Padayatra’ from Nilgiri to Mitrapur in Balasore district to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India.”

 

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Higher Education and Tourism & Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, MLA Santosh Khatua, and several dignitaries, walked alongside lakhs of participants. The march symbolized unity and patriotism, echoing Patel’s vision of a strong and united India.

 
CM Majhi, in a post on X, expressed his admiration for the overwhelming participation of students, youth, and the public. He emphasized that the strength of unity demonstrated during the Padayatra reflects the collective spirit of patriotism. He urged citizens to work together for a stronger and prosperous Odisha and India.

The Chief Minister’s visit to Balasore began with his arrival at the Nilagiri College ground by helicopter. Following his arrival, he offered prayers at the Jagannath Temple, Nilagiri, seeking blessings for the welfare of the people of Odisha. Later, he addressed a large gathering at the Police ground before leading the Padayatra.

 
In another post, CM Majhi highlighted his visit to a photo exhibition titled “Role of Balasore in Freedom Struggle and Life of Sardar Patel” organized at Police ground. He noted that the exhibition vividly showcased Balasore’s heroic contribution to India’s independence and Patel’s immense sacrifices for national integration. He said such initiatives would inspire the younger generation to embrace patriotism and unity.

 

The Balasore visit marks a significant step in the state government’s efforts to connect historical legacy with contemporary aspirations. By invoking Patel’s ideals, CM Majhi reinforced his call for collective responsibility in building a Bikashit (developed) Odisha.
