Cuttack, Jan 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated the Centre for Judicial Archives, High Court of Orissa in Cuttack.
Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, State’s Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, office bearers of High Court Bar Association, senior advocates and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
In his address, Justice Sharan Singh expressed the significance of setting up of the Centre for Judicial Archives, as many endangered important historic records of the Court failed to attract the attention of State Archives for their preservation.

✨“The Archive is meant for care, conservation and consultation of the oldest records. The Archive is not a destination for the elite rather it will be a place for the marginalized to know that facts of their importance have been preserved in this Centre,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, the Centre for Judicial Archives will be a preserver of not only judicial records but also of culture. He also expressed the State government is committed to providing all assistance including financial, administrative and technological to the Centre.
The construction of the Centre for Judicial Archives as a state-of-the-art facility. It has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 38 crore sanctioned by the Odisha government. The Centre has preserved approximately 75,000 judicial records predating 1950, sources said.
