Sambalpur, Sept 6: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi on Saturday joined the people of Sambalpur in celebrating Nuakhai Bhetghat, Odisha’s cherished agrarian festival, with heartfelt participation and cultural reverence.

In a post on X, the CM described Nuakhai as “the closest festival to our soil, our tradition, and our hearts,” highlighting its transformation from a regional celebration in Western Odisha to a festival embraced across the entire state.

CM Majhi emphasized that Nuakhai is not merely a ritual of offering the first grains of paddy to the divine, but a symbolic tribute to the prosperity of society and a gesture of gratitude to Mother Earth. He called it a celebration of farmers’ labor, resilience, and dreams, and a reminder for all to remain thankful to those who feed the nation.

Expressing joy at celebrating Nuakhai with the people of Sambalpur, CM Majhi praised their enthusiasm, warmth, and cultural pride. “The vibrant colors of the procession, the rhythm of dhol and mahuri, and the simplicity and devotion of the people made the festival unforgettable,” he wrote. He also commended the community’s efforts in preserving literature, culture, and tradition, which were prominently showcased during the festivities.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister visited the revered shrine of Maa Samaleswari here. He expressed gratitude for receiving her blessings and prayed for the continued progress of Odisha and its people. “May Maa Samaleswari’s grace always be upon the state and empower us to fulfill the vision of a prosperous Odisha,” he added.

CM Majhi also extend ed his heartfelt wishes to every brother and sister of Sambalpur, acknowledging their love and hospitality as a priceless treasure in his life.
