Bhubaneswar, Sep 5: A flight carrying Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, returning from a four-day visit to New Delhi, was unable to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport due to adverse weather conditions.
The flight was subsequently diverted to Kolkata, where the Chief Minister landed safely. The development was confirmed by Urban Development Minister Krushnachandra Mahapatra.
Mahapatra stated that poor visibility and heavy cloud cover over Bhubaneswar airport made landing unsafe.
As a precautionary measure, air traffic control redirected the aircraft to Kolkata, the minister added.
Officials are now working to reschedule his itinerary based on updated weather forecasts.
The Chief Minister is expected to return to Bhubaneswar once conditions improve, said sources.
