Bhawanipatna, Jan 19: The concluding evening of the grand Kalahandi Ghumura Mahotsav 2026 turned into a historic occasion as Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressed the people of Kalahandi from the Rendomajhi stage.
The Chief Minister not only celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the district but also gifted the people with a slew of developmental projects.

laying of 3,612 projects worth ₹891.39 crore.

Out of these, 971 projects worth ₹193.36 crore were inaugurated, while 2,641 projects worth ₹698.3 crore saw their foundation stones laid. He further assured the people that the ambitious Utei Raul Irrigation Project, with an investment of ₹3,325 crore, will commence soon, promising to transform the agricultural landscape of the region.

Highlighting Kalahandi’s leading role in cotton production, the Chief Minister declared that the district would be developed into a “Cotton Production Cluster,” boosting farmers’ income and strengthening the textile sector. He emphasized that Kalahandi, with its courage, resilience, and self-respect, is one of Odisha’s most culturally rich regions.
CM Majhi also announced that a Jan Sunani (public grievance hearing) programme will soon be organized in Bhawanipatna, where he himself will listen to the concerns of the people. This initiative, he said, will ensure direct communication between the government and citizens, reinforcing accountability and transparency.
The Chief Minister’s speech reflected his vision of making Kalahandi the number one district in agriculture in Odisha. He underlined that with collective effort, the district’s farmers will achieve new milestones in productivity and prosperity.
The festival, known for showcasing the traditional Ghumura
dance and Kalahandi’s cultural vibrancy, concluded on a high note with promises
of development, irrigation, and agricultural transformation.
