CM Majhi, Union Minister Pradhan Extend Greetings On Sambalpuri Day

Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and many others extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Sambalpuri Day.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in a post on X wished people on the Sambalpuri Day.
"On the occasion of Sambalpuri Day which marks the birth anniversary of the late Guru Shri Satyanarayan Bohidar, who paved the way for Sambalpuri language, literature, culture, and traditions, I extend heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all. Guru Shri Satyanarayan Bohidar wrote, “The soil and water of Sambalpur, the sparkling diamonds and sapphires, O Mother Samlei, your divine play is boundless.” Today, the time has come to showcase our language, literature, and culture to the world," tweeted Pradhan.
Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo took to X and said: "Today is #SambalpuriDay. On this occasion, heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all. On the birth anniversary of the great Sambalpuri poet, Guru Shri Satyanarayan Bohidar, a million salutations to him."
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also wished people on Sambalpuri Day.
"On the occasion of Guru Satya Narayan Bahidar's birthday, celebrated as 'Sambalpuri Day,' heartfelt wishes and congratulations to all," tweeted Dy CM.
Sambalpuri Din is observed on August 1 to celebrate the birth anniversary of the doyen of Sambalpuri literature and culture Satya Narayan Bohidar.
Bohidar was born on August 1, 1913 in undivided Sambalpur district, present-day Sonepur region to father Mitrabhanu Bohidar and Bilasbati Bohidar.
Sambalpuri language which was predominantly considered as dialect of Odia language, got its separate identity due to contributions of Bohidar who with his immense efforts authored the ‘Sambalpuri Bhasakosh’, dictionary of Sambalpuri language.
He also wrote many books in Sambalpuri language, contributing towards expansion of Sambalpuri language throughout Odisha. His popular works includes ‘Tik Chahnra'(1975), ‘Ghuvkudu’, ‘Ghavghavo’ and several other poems in Sambalpuri language.
