Sambalpur, Sep 6: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to visit Sambalpur today to attend the state-level Nuakhai Bhetghat, one of western Odisha’s most cherished agrarian festivals.

The event, which celebrates the season’s first harvest, will be held with great cultural fervour and community participation.

The Chief Minister will grace the occasion as the chief guest, marking his first Nuakhai celebration in Sambalpur since assuming office.

The festival, deeply rooted in the traditions of western Odisha, symbolizes gratitude to nature and the goddess Samaleswari for a bountiful harvest.

Joining the Chief Minister will be BJP State President Manmohan Samal, along with several cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, and MLAs from western Odisha.

The gathering is expected to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region, with traditional music, dance, and local delicacies forming part of the celebrations.

Ahead of the Bhetghat, CM Majhi is expected to visit the revered Maa Samaleswari Temple to offer prayers. His presence is seen as a gesture of solidarity with the farming community and a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to rural development.
