Nuapada, Nov 8: In a landmark moment, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary, becoming the first CM to set foot in the region since India’s independence.

His visit sparked enthusiasm among local residents, especially the tribal communities who have long awaited government attention to their pressing issues.

CM Majhi began his visit by offering prayers to Maa Sunadei, the revered deity of the Chakotia Bhunjia tribal community. He acknowledged the cultural significance of the region and emphasized the need to preserve its heritage while addressing developmental challenges.

CM Majhi also took a direct swipe at former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, stating that despite being in power for over two decades, Patnaik had failed to learn Odia and had never visited the grievance cell personally. “Only a tribal can truly understand and represent another tribal,” CM Majhi declared, reinforcing his commitment to inclusive governance.

The Chief Minister’s visit included a meal at the home of Nakulram Majhi, a member of the Chakotia Bhunjia community, symbolizing solidarity and respect for indigenous traditions.

As the Nuapada bypoll approaches, CM Majhi’s visit is seen as a strategic move to connect with voters and highlight the government’s focus on tribal welfare.

The visit marks a significant step in bridging the gap between remote tribal regions and mainstream governance, with promises of development and dignity for Sunabeda’s residents.
