Puri, July 1: In the wake of the tragic stampede-like incident near Gundicha Temple during the Rath Yatra festivities, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan are scheduled to meet servitors at the Puri Circuit House today.
According to reports, the Law Minister will hold discussions at 12 PM, followed by the Chief Minister’s meeting at 3 PM.
The meetings come amid mounting public concern and political pressure after three devotees lost their lives and over 50 were injured in the early hours of June 30, when a sudden surge in the crowd near the chariots led to chaos.
The state government has already taken disciplinary action, including the transfer of the Puri Collector and SP, and the suspension of two senior police officers.
With major Rath Yatra rituals like Bahuda Yatra (July 5) and Suna Besha (July 6) still ahead, the administration is on high alert to ensure safety and smooth conduct of the remaining festivities.
