Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi led the state’s 79th Independence Day celebrations by hoisting the Tricolour at the state-level ceremony held in Bhubaneswar.

The event was marked by patriotic fervor, cultural performances, and tributes to the nation’s freedom fighters.

Addressing the gathering after the flag hoisting, CM Majhi paid homage to the sacrifices of India’s heroes and emphasised the importance of safeguarding the country’s unity, integrity, and sovereignty.

He called upon citizens to contribute actively towards building a developed and self-reliant India.

The ceremony featured parade by police and paramilitary forces, followed by cultural programs showcasing Odisha’s rich heritage.

School children, government officials, and members of the public participated enthusiastically in the celebrations.

Security arrangements were tight across the state, with special deployments in major cities to ensure peaceful observance of the national event.
