Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday flagged off a special train from Bhubaneswar New Railway Station carrying around 1,000 representatives from 19 Naxal-free districts to Gujarat to participate in the national parade marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.

The parade will be held near the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar on the occasion of 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas', or National Unity Day. The representatives will showcase Odisha as a symbol of peace, security and progress, an official informed.

Speaking to the media at the flag-off ceremony, CM Majhi paid tribute to Patel, crediting his exceptional leadership and determination with uniting more than 550 princely states to build an integrated India.

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been observing Patel's birth anniversary as National Unity Day every year since coming to power in 2014. He expressed confidence that this year's national-level parade would reflect the vision of a completely Naxal-free India.

CM Majhi credited the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, under PM Modi's guidance, and the efforts of security forces at the national and state levels for the progress towards eliminating Naxalism and accelerating development in Odisha and across the country.

Development Push In Naxal-Affected Areas
The chief minister said infrastructure development and socio-economic progress in areas affected by Naxalism remained a priority.

Under the Gramodaya Plus scheme, welfare programmes are being delivered in an integrated manner to eligible beneficiaries across 10 affected districts, he said. The initiative aims to improve access to government support and help people in these areas join the mainstream.

Majhi also invoked the Prime Minister's vision of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat', saying the collective efforts of the country's 1.4 billion people were essential to realising it.
