Bhubaneswar, Jul 30: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected districts across Odisha.
Accompanied by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, the Chief Minister took the aerial survey to inspect submerged villages in Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Kendrapara districts.
According to reports, over 8,000 hectares of farmland have been inundated, with 35 gram panchayats across six blocks severely impacted in Balasore districts.
Rescue teams, including eight fire brigades, three ODRAF units, and one NDRF team, have been deployed to assist stranded residents.
CM Majhi emphasised the urgency of relief and rehabilitation, directing district administrations to expedite food distribution, health services, and shelter arrangements. He also called for a permanent flood mitigation roadmap, particularly for the Subarnarekha and Jalaka rivers, which have breached danger levels.
The aerial survey marks a critical step in the state’s disaster response strategy, as thousands remain displaced and agricultural losses continue to mount.
