Bhubaneswar, Aug 27: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has asserted that farmers in Odisha have witnessed a significant rise in income following the formation of the BJP government.
Addressing the media, CM Majhi claimed that under the previous BJD regime, Odisha ranked among the bottom two states in terms of agricultural profitability, with farmers suffering more losses than gains.
“In our government, farmers are receiving ₹58,000 annually in assistance,” Majhi stated, referencing schemes like PM-Kisan, CM-Kisan, and Subhadra. He emphasized that the BJP administration took immediate steps to address agricultural distress, beginning with a decisive move in the first cabinet meeting to approve input subsidies.
According to the Odisha Chief Minister, a record 92.73 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been procured, and ₹7,537 crore has been disbursed as input subsidies to 19.72 lakh farmers across both Kharif and Rabi seasons.

He contrasted this with the previous government’s performance, citing reports that showed Odisha lagging behind other states in farmer welfare.
CM Majhi’s remarks also included a pointed critique of the BJD, suggesting that their policies left farmers vulnerable and under-supported. “We’ve reversed that trend,” he said, “by ensuring direct financial support and strategic procurement.”
The CM’s comments come amid growing political discourse
around agricultural reform and rural development, with Odisha’s farming
community now positioned as a focal point in the state’s policy narrative.
