Nuapada/Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi arrived in Nuapada on Sunday to attend a solemn tribute ceremony honouring the late Rajendra Dholakia, sitting MLA and former minister, who passed away recently while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.

CM Majhi landed at the Nuapada airstrip via a special aircraft and proceeded to the FCI godown premises near Khariar Road, where the condolence meeting was organized. Senior leaders from both BJD and BJP joined the gathering, reflecting Dholakia’s cross-party respect and legacy.

District and police administration had made elaborate arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit, ensuring smooth proceedings and security.

Rajendra Dholakia, a four-time MLA and a prominent figure in western Odisha politics, was known for his grassroots leadership and commitment to tribal welfare. His passing has left a deep void in the region’s political and social landscape.

Earlier in the day, CM Majhi made headlines in Bhubaneswar with an impromptu public outreach. He visited a Tea Stall near Jaydev Vihar Square, where he interacted with locals over a cup of tea.

During the visit, he promoted the message of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India), listened to citizens’ concerns, and briefed them on various government schemes aimed at public welfare.

“Today, after returning from the Namo Yuva Marathon, I mingled with the general public at the Mayfair Square in Bhubaneswar and discussed various topics. I always say that the love of the people is my strength and capability. I am one among you. That’s why I always prefer to stay connected with you,” wrote CM Majhi in a post on his official X account.
