Bhubaneswar, July 4: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the families of each Odia worker who lost their lives in the Telangana factory explosion.

The financial assistance will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, the CM confirmed.

The tragic incident occurred at Sigachi Industries Ltd in Pashamylaram, Sangareddy district, Telangana, on June 30. The blast claimed at least 40 lives and left dozens injured.

Among the deceased and injured were several workers from Odisha.

The Chief Minister stated that a dedicated team of officers from Odisha has been deployed at the accident site to oversee rescue operations, coordinate with local authorities, and ensure medical treatment for the injured.

The team is also tasked with verifying the identities of victims and facilitating support for affected families.

“We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and assure all possible assistance,” Majhi said, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives.

The Telangana government and Sigachi Industries have separately announced Rs 1 crore compensation for each deceased worker’s family, along with full medical support for the injured.
