Koraput, Dec 22: Koraput district witnessed a historic moment as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced development projects worth ₹545 crore during the fourth evening of the National Level Tribal Festival ‘PARAB-2025’.

 

The festival, which has been celebrating the art, culture, tradition, and heritage of Koraput since 1996, continues to serve as a platform to showcase hidden talents and strengthen social and cultural unity.

 

Addressing the gathering at Saheed Laxman Naik stage, the Odisha Chief Minister paid tribute to freedom fighters of the district, including Laxman Naik, and highlighted Koraput’s unique identity as a land of natural beauty, peace, simplicity, and love.

He emphasized that Koraput’s coffee, black jeera rice, and Kotpad sarees have earned recognition not only in Odisha but across India and abroad.

The Odisha CM highlighted Koraput’s growing reputation in millet cultivation, popularly recognized as ‘Shri Anna’, the national grain. Through the Shri Anna Abhiyan, nearly 72,000 hectares of farmland in the district have been devoted to millet production. He praised the commendable work of Dr. Raimati Ghuria, an eminent woman farmer and conservationist, for her remarkable role in advancing sustainable agriculture.

 

On this occasion, CM Majhi inaugurated 16 projects worth ₹24 crore and laid the foundation stones for 70 projects worth ₹521 crore. These include irrigation facilities, healthcare centres, small industries, urban hostels, bridges, roads, Mission Shakti buildings, forest protection committee offices, and additional classrooms. He stated that these initiatives will significantly contribute to the district’s growth and development.

 

The Chief Minister also unveiled a special festival jacket and a video song dedicated to PARAB-2025. Tribal and caste development minister Nityananda Gond praised the festival, saying it has given Koraput a distinct identity while keeping alive the region’s culture, traditions, and heritage.
